in these pictures, Oluwabukunmi poses in front of his camera at his residence in Lubbock, Texas after he just had a clean cut. on the left, he reduces the saturation to accentuate colored part of his skin taking the 1840s Daguerreotype style. camera focus centers on his face highlighting his left cheek dimple–and on the right, there is a colorized version of the image, putting him in the perspective of the modern camera.

the journey is not linear but I am certain of the destination. my name is Olúwábùkúnmi Abraham Awóṣùsì; however, with numerous aliases, you can simply call me awo or olu. i am an essayist, poet, and writer. with a B.A in History from the Ìbàdàn School of History, University of Ìbàdàn and 2025 Spring M.A candidate in Art History at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas where i m learning a lot of theories and methodologies. apart from this, I am a designer: visual, brand, product, and graphics. i specialized in storytelling to maximize the potential of every designs and when i am not designing, i am constantly exploring with music; because of my vast amoebic lifestyle, i am constantly on the move making designs you can’t deny visually.

beyond everything you’ve read so far, i am a believer. everything i am now is testament of God’s grace—Jeremiah 1:4-5.

i currently work, voluntarily, at the Texas Tech University where i research on African Art Collections. my focus includes verification of these arts, authenticating and aligning each objects to their cultural roots.
